The Senate voted 54-45 to confirm William Barr as attorney general. Democratic Senators Doug Jones (AL), Joe Manchin (WV), and Kyrsten Sinema (AZ) were the only members of their party to vote for the nominee, and Senator Rand Paul (KY) was the only Republican to vote against him. Lawmakers also approved the conference committee report on border security and government funding agreed to earlier in the week to avoid another government shutdown. Members advanced Andrew Wheeler’s nomination for Environmental Protection Agency administrator. close
