The governors of Puerto Rico, Guam, U.S. Virgin Islands, and Northern Mariana Islands testified on the state of the United States territories. They discussed the need for further relief funding following recent hurricanes and other natural disasters, and answered committee members’questions on long-term economic stability. Puerto Rico Governor Ricardo Rossello and U.S. Virgin Islands Governor Albert Bryan pressed for Puerto Rico’s statehood several times. Committee Chair Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) spoke with reporters following the hearing. close
