House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) disagreed with President Trump when he told reporters “we know what happened to Otto Warmbier,” adding “I do not have a misbelief of who this leader is.” The president told reporters at the conclusion of a second nuclear summit with the country’s leader that he believed Kim Jong Un was not aware of Warmbier’s imprisonment. North Korea released Warmbier, an American student, after more than a year of imprisonment. He returned to the U.S. in a coma and died days later. The minority leader also discussed the hearing with Michael Cohen, the president’s former lawyer, saying Mr. Cohen’s testimony did not “give him pause” about the president. close
