Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito and Elena Kagan testified before a House Appropriations subcommittee on the court’s $90 million request for fiscal year 2020. The amount is $3 million higher than the 2019 fiscal year. The justices also answered questions regarding cameras in the courtroom, the independence of the judiciary branch, law clerk diversity, and the criteria they use when granting cases to be heard. close
