Established in 1974, the National Czech and Slovak Museum and Library tells the history of these two nations through artifacts, books, and archives. Curator Stefanie Kohn gave a tour of museum’s exhibits and explained what brought the Czechs and Slovaks to the United States and, in particular, eastern Iowa.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2018 LCV Cities Tour” in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, from February 16-22, 2019, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Mediacom cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
