Equifax CEO Mark Begor and Marriott International CEO Arne Sorenson testified before the Senate Homeland Security Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations about their companies' recent data breaches. Mr. Sorenson apologized for the data breach involving up to 383 million guests and vowed to enhance security measures to protect against future attacks. Mr. Begor said his company took security seriously before the 2017 breach involving more than 145 million consumers. Subcommittee Chair Rob Portman (R-OH) and Ranking Member Tom Carper (D-DE) issued a report ahead of the hearing accusing Equifax of neglecting cybersecurity. Other witnesses included officials from the Federal Trade Commission, the Government Accountability Office, and the Center for Internet Security. close
