Wen-Qing Ngoei is author of Arc of Containment: Britain, the United States, and Anticommunism in Southeast Asia. He talked about the post-World War II efforts by Western powers -- particularly the U.S. -- to foster anticommunist governments in the region and to contain the spread of communism to Vietnam. Mr. Ngoei argued that despite the outcome of the Vietnam War the U.S. was largely successful in its overall regional strategy. The Wilson Center in Washington, D.C hosted this event. close
