Dallidet Adobe
C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2019 LCV Cities Tour” in San Luis Obispo, California, from March 2-6, 2019, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2.

Built in 1856, the Dallidet Adobe was home to Pierre Hypolite Dallidet and his family for over 100 years. Pierre, Sr. is most remembered for starting the first commercial winery on the central coast. Kaylee Scoggins Herring, San Luis Obispo History Center collections manager, gave a tour of the structure and talked about the family’s experience in San Luis Obispo.
