Former Vice President Joe Biden, who was considering a 2020 presidential run, spoke at the Biden Courage Awards, which were held at the Russian Tea Room in New York City. The former vice president talked about the attitudes and culture that allow sexual assault to happen. He expressed regret in his handling of Professor Anita Hill’s sexual harassment allegations during Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas' confirmation hearing, which the former vice president oversaw as committee chair. “To this day, I regret I couldn’t come up with a way to give her the kind of hearing she deserved,” he said. He also talked about his work with the “It’s On Us” campaign, which seeks to raise awareness and fight against sexual assault on college campuses. close
