Before the witnesses delivered their opening statements and answered questions from lawmakers, Representative Mike Conaway (R-TX) submitted a letter from Republican members of the committee asking for the resignation of Committee Chair Adam Schiff (D-CA). Representative Conaway said he and other Republicans did not approve of Representative Schiff’s public comments regarding the committee’s investigation in Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Representative Schiff defended himself and disallowed further debate on the topic.
