Three authors took part in a session of the 2019 Los Angeles Times Festival of Books titled, “Excavating the Past: Writing International Histories.” The panelists and the titles of their books were: Priya Satia, Empire of Guns: The Violent Making of the Industrial Revolution; Scott Martelle, William Walker’s Wars: How One Man’s Private American Army Tried to Conquer Mexico, Nicaragua, and Honduras; and Ruby Lal, Empress: The Astonishing Reign of Nur Jahan. close
