Stanford University history Professor Richard White told the story of the “big four” key investors in the Transcontinental Railroad project: Leland Stanford, Collis Huntington, Mark Hopkins and Charles Crocker. Mr. White is the author of Railroaded: The Transcontinentals and the Making of Modern America. This program was part of a Stanford Historical Society symposium marking the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad. close
