Acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan and Joint Chiefs of Staff Chair General Joseph Dunford were among the witnesses at a Senate Armed Services Committee hearing on the creation of a U.S. Space Force. They outlined the latest proposal for the Space Force, which would be a part of the Air Force, as well as the scope of the potential force’s work. Lawmakers questioned the proposal, with many questioning why more money was needed when the Space Force, as planned, would pull about 1,000 personnel from the other branches of the military. close
