House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) addressed members and former members of the Irish Parliament in Dublin. Her remarks came on the 100th anniversary of the first sitting of the Irish Dáil, Ireland’s lower house of Parliament. She reflected on the history of partnership between the U.S. and Ireland and importance of the Good Friday Agreement in light of Britain’s exit from the European Union, or “Brexit.” Speaker Pelosi said the U.S. Congress stands with Ireland and supports a “seamless border” with the United Kingdom despite uncertainty with Brexit negotiations. close
