The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace held a discussion on the 2019 Ukrainian presidential election results. Panelists talked about the implications of Ukraine’s election on its economy, the political landscape, and the ongoing conflict with Russia. Volodymyr Zelenskiy, a comedian-turned-politician, defeated incumbent Petro Poroshenko in Ukraine’s presidential election held on April 21, 2019. According to official results, Mr. Zelenskiy received approximately 73 percent of the votes. close
