The Council of the Americas held a discussion on China’s increasing engagement in Latin American countries. Kimberly Breier, the assistant secretary of the State Department’s Western Hemisphere Affairs Bureau, delivered keynote remarks warning of China’s increasing social and cultural influence throughout Latin America. Following that, a panel of experts in China’s relationships with Latin American nations talked about changing diplomatic norms in the region and China’s major economic plays throughout the Americas.
