The House Rules Committee held a hearing on the Medicare for All Act of 2019. The legislative proposal was introduced by Representatives Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) and Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and at the time of the hearing had more than 100 co-sponsors. The committee heard from physicians, industry leaders, and economists who discussed the potential impacts of the proposal on health care costs and access. Among the witnesses were Ady Barkan, who advocated for the passage of the Medicare for All plan. Mr. Barkan was diagnosed in 2016 with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s Disease. close
