The U.S. Institute of Peace hosted a discussion on the status of the Afghanistan peace talks as a sixth round of negotiations between U.S., Afghan and Taliban leaders had started days earlier in Qatar. Panelists talked about the status of the talks and about the military and political complications setting the stage for the ongoing negotiations. In particular, the speakers outlined the differences in U.S. and Taliban priorities in the peace talks and how they could affect their outcome. At the end of the event, panelists answered questions from the audience. close
