The House Judiciary Committee approved along party lines, 24-16, a resolution to hold Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for not providing to the committee an un-redacted copy of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report on Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election. Prior to the vote, lawmakers debated amendments to the resolution. One of the amendments discussed concerned the White House’s decision to assert executive privilege just prior to the meeting’s start. close
