The House Ways and Means Committee held a hearing to examine paid family and medical leave. While members from both parties expressed support for paid family and medical leave, there was disagreement over the best way to achieve those policies and how to pay for it. Democrats on the committee offered their support for the FAMILY Act, which would replace a portion of lost wages and would be financed through a payroll tax on employers and employees, while Republicans had concerns with the cost to employers and taxpayers. close
