Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acting Administrator Dan Elwell and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) Chair Robert Sumwalt testified before Congress on the Boeing 737 MAX airplane. Mr. Elwell offered his apologies to the families of the victims of two recent crashes in Indonesia and Ethiopia. He provided an update on when the aircraft would fly again saying, “In the U.S., the 737 Max will return to service only when the FAA’s analysis of the facts and technical data indicate that it’s safe to do so.” In addition, he told lawmakers that he expects the Boeing Company to submit a software fix for the grounded jets soon for approval. close
