Housing and Urban Development Secretary Ben Carson testified before the House Financial Services Committee on housing issues and his department’s policies. Committee members asked about affordable housing programs, the government’s handling of mixed immigration status households, low-income housing in rural areas and the department’s lawsuit against Facebook over allegations of housing discrimination in their ads. Several Democratic members, including Representative Ayanna Pressley (D-MA), pressed Secretary Carson on specifics over public housing concerns and other HUD policy issues. close
