House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) hosted a reception in the U.S. Capitol to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the House of Representatives passing the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, which guaranteed women the right to vote. Other speakers included House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy (R-CA), Represenatatives Brenda Lawrence (D-MI) and Debbie Lesko (R-AZ), journalist Cokie Roberts, and Kay Cole James and former Senator Barbara Mikulski (D-MD), the respective chair and vice chair of the Women’s Suffrage Centennial Commission. close
