The House Energy and Commerce Consumer Protection and Commerce Subcommittee held a hearing on dangers facing drivers in the summer vacation season and ways new technology could reduce vehicle-related deaths, including those resulting from children being left inside hot vehicles. Lawmakers also asked questions on self-driving vehicle development and ways to curb distracted driving. Among the witnesses was the father of a child who died after being left inside of a hot car. close
