Robert Laxalt was a prominent Nevadan author whose work made him a national and international literary figure. Son of a Basque sheep herder, he spent his formative years as a journalist in Reno and Carson City. Warren Lerude, University of Nevada, Reno, professor emeritus of the Reynolds School of Journalism, chronicled the life of this Nevada legend in his book, Robert Laxalt: The Story of a Storyteller.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2019 LCV Cities Tour” in Reno, Nevada, from April 6-12, 2019, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Charter cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
