2019 marked the 75th anniversary of the World War II D-Day invasion of Normandy, France. Retired Admiral James Stavridis and Tweed Roosevelt, great-grandson of President Theodore Roosevelt, discussed the events of Operations Neptune and Overlord, the sea and land components of D-Day. Tweed Roosevelt’s uncle, Theodore Roosevelt Jr., was part of the first wave on June 6, 1944, at Utah Beach while his cousin, Quentin Roosevelt II, was part of the force that attacked Omaha Beach. The National Defense University Foundation and the National War College Alumni Association hosted the event. close
