Paradise Valley was the business and entertainment district in Detroit for African Americans from the 1920s through the 1950s. Historian and tour guide Jamon Jordan traveled to the area that was once known as Paradise Valley and explained how urban renewal plans in the 1960s wiped out this area.

C-SPAN’s Local Content Vehicles (LCVs) made a stop in their “2019 LCV Cities Tour” in Detroit, Michigan, from from May 18-24, 2019, to feature the history and literary life of the community. Working with the Comcast cable local affiliate, they visited literary and historic sites where local historians, authors, and civic leaders were interviewed. The history segments air on American History TV (AHTV) on C-SPAN3 and the literary events/non-fiction author segments air on Book TV on C-SPAN2. close
