Democratic Senators Markey (MA), Cantwell (WA), and Wyden (OR) spoke on the chamber floor about the one year anniversary of the Federal Communications Commission’s repeal of net neutrality. They argued for a vote on a bill to restore Obama administration rules regulating the internet like a public utility and prohibiting internet service providers from blocking or charging websites for higher quality delivery to consumers. The Republican-led FCC voted to replace net neutrality with Federal Trade Commission regulation, effective June 11, 2018. close
