President Trump delivered remarks on second chance employment for former inmates and the First Step Act, a criminal justice reform bill signed into law in 2018. Several criminal justice advocates and leaders gave remarks, including reality TV personality Kim Kardashian West, who talked about her journey in criminal justice reform and touted a program that provided ride share services to former prisoners looking for work. President Trump also thanked White House Press Secretary Sarah Sanders for her service. He had tweeted earlier that Ms. Sanders would be leaving at the end of the month. She spoke briefly, thanking the president and said it was the “honor of a lifetime.” close
