The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee held a hearing to examine public lands infrastructure maintenance needs. Committee Chair Lisa Murkowski (R-AK) said the National Park Service and other federal land management agencies face a deferred maintenance backlog totaling $19.4 billion. Witnesses included U.S. Forest Service Associate Chief Lenise Lago, Principal Deputy Assistant Interior Secretary Scott Cameron, and leaders from the outdoor recreation industry and public lands non-profit organizations. close
