President Trump and outgoing Labor Secretary Alexander Acosta spoke to reporters before the president departed the White House for a trip to the Midwest. Before speaking to reporters, Mr. Acosta offered the president his resignation over his involvement when he served as the U.S. attorney for Florida in a sex crime plea deal for financier Jeffrey Epstein. Mr. Acosta told reporters he did not want to distract from the administration’s economic agenda. Mr. Trump praised the outgoing secretary. He also took questions on former House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-WI), calling him a “baby” and not a leader. The president also defended House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA), saying accusations by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) that the speaker is targeting newly elected lawmakers of color is “a disgrace” and said Ms. Pelosi is “not a racist.” close
