CBS Coverage of Apollo 11 Moonwalk

Walter Cronkite of CBS News anchored live coverage of the arrival of Apollo 11 to the moon on July 20, 1969, and the Moon walk of astronauts Buzz Aldrin and Neil Armstrong, the first to step on the lunar surface. The broadcast included scenes from mission control in Houston and live pictures from the Moon itself. President Nixon also made a telephone call to the astronauts after they planted the U.S. flag near the landing site.
