This program was part of a conference on Herbert Hoover’s humanitarian efforts during the two world wars. Hal Elliott Wert, a Kansas City Art Institute professor emeritus, talked about the views and policies of President Franklin D. Roosevelt and former President Hoover on war-torn Europe in the 1930s and 40s -- and the question of what to do about the plight of war victims, especially women and children. He illustrated his remarks with a selection of wartime posters. He was followed by a question and answer session with all four conference speakers. close
