British Prime Minister Boris Johnson participated in his first Prime Minister’s Question session as the U.K.'s lower house returned to session from a summer recess. The session came a day after Prime Minister Johnson lost his party’s majority in the House of Commons as one member left the Conservatives to join the Liberal Democrats, and just before the chamber was poised to vote on a bill that would block a “no-deal” exit of Britain from the European Union. Prime Minister Johnson said he preferred a deal, but wanted to comply with an October 31, 2019, deadline to leave the E.U., even without a deal. Most of the questions to Prime Minister Johnson were in regards to Brexit, and some sparked vociferous debate with members. During one such exchange, Mr. Johnson called Jeremy Corbyn, the Labour party leader, a “chlorinated chicken” and later, a “big girl’s blouse.” close
