Former National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster joined national security experts Juan Zarate and Samantha Ravich a Foundation for Defense of Democracies discussion on the Trump administration’s foreign policy strategy, including the president’s decision to withdraw troops from Syria. The panelists talked about some of the national security challenges facing the country and how the U.S. can better utilize the military, political, cyber and economic tools of power at its disposal. Retired Lieutenant General McMaster expressed concern about President Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from northeastern Syria and Turkey’s subsequent military campaign into the region.
