Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) came to the Senate floor to urge consideration and passage of a House-approved bill opposing President Trump’s decision to withdraw U.S. troops from Syria. His motion was objected to by Senator Rand Paul (R-KY), who then attempted to introduce his own Turkey-related bill. Foreign Relations Committee Chair Jim Risch (R-ID) objected, and announced that he was going to introduce his own bipartisan resolution regarding the conflict in the region. He was followed by Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), who offered his own thoughts on the policy change and the constitutional issues surrounding it, and Senator Mike Braun (R-IN) who offered his support for the president’s decision. close
