The House Administration Subcommittee on Elections held a hearing on voting rights and election procedures. Witnesses among the four panels included leaders from the NAACP and American Civil Liberties Union, U.S. Commission on Civil Rights Chair Catherine Lhamon (D), and voting rights advocacy leaders.

According to a new C-SPAN/Ipsos survey, 55% of Americans -- including majorities of Republicans (54%), Democrats (56%), and independents (59%)--believe the federal government should still oversee election administration in states and localities with histories of voting discrimination. close
