Viewers commented on the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the guarded concrete barrier that from 1961 to 1989 divided the German city into two parts.

This program was part of an American History TV and “Washington Journal” three-hour program from the Newseum in Washington, D.C., marking the November 9, 2019, 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall. After its construction, the wall symbolized the ideological Cold War divisions between East and West. Guests included Angela Stent of Georgetown University as well as authors Hope Harrison and Steve Vogel. Also, Carrie Christoffersen talked about the Newseum’s exhibit on Cold War Berlin. close
