The secretary called out China on a number of human rights abuses outlined in leaked documents regarding China’s crackdown on Muslim minorities in the Xinjiang region. Secretary Pompeo was also asked whether or not there should be investigations into allegations that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the 2016 election. “Anytime there is information that indicates that any country has messed with American elections, we not only have a right but a duty to make sure we chase that down,” he said. Additionally, the secretary was asked about President Trump’s tweet early in the day that he would like Secretary Pompeo to testify before Congress in the impeachment inquiry. “When the time is right, all good things happen,” said Secretary Pompeo.
