The U.S. Institute of Peace hosted a discussion with former National Security Adviser Stephen Hadley and former Defense Under Secretary Michele Flournoy on the Afghanistan peace process. Mary Catherine Phee, the State Department’s deputy special representative for Afghanistan reconciliation, spoke about the latest in the U.S.-Taliban negotiations and addressed the announcement earlier in the day by the Afghan Independent Election Commission that President Ashraf Ghani had won re-election. close
