Health and Human Services officials held a briefing to provide an update on the federal government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak. “The immediate risk to the general American public remains low, but as we have warned, that has the potential to change quickly,” said Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar, before talking about the steps the Trump administration is taking to prevent and mitigate a potential U.S. outbreak. Other officials briefing the press included National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Dr. Anthony Fauci, Center for Disease Control and Prevention Principal Deputy Director Dr. Anne Schuchat, Assistant Health and Human Services Secretary Dr. Robert Kadlec, and Food and Drug Administration Commissioner Dr. Stephen Hahn. close
