President Trump made remarks at an African American History Month reception from the East Room of the White House. The president was joined on the stage by 15-year-old Alphonso Hill Jr., the first African American Eagle Scout from the Swansboro area of Onslow County, North Carolina, who installed a 25-foot high American flag at the White Oak Missionary Church to honor all the branches of the military. Also coming to the stage was Gertrude Jane Holliday Stone, who in 1955, refused to give up her seat on a segregated train from Nashville to Houston. close
