Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) gave an update on the economic fallout from coronavirus pandemic. He requested that the Senate pass by unanimous consent additional funding for the small business program (PPP) to try to keep more workers on the payroll. The ranking Democrat on the Small Business Committee, Senator Ben Cardin (D-MD), objected and said the Majority Leader had not negotiated with Democrats on this package. Senator Chris Van Hollen (D-MD) also spoke on the floor and tried to call up another small business bill. The majority leader objected. close
