Representative Mario Diaz-Balart (R), the first member of Congress to test positive for coronavirus, opened this special “Washington Journal” primetime edition on the coronavirus pandemic. He talked about his experience having COVID-19 and how he was working amidst stay-at-home orders. Afterward, Dr. Patrice Harris, president of the American Medical Association, discussed the impact of the outbreak on the nation’s health care system. She also talked about disparities in outcomes for minority communities and answered viewer calls on the national efforts to slow the spread of the virus.
