The Supreme Court heard a consolidated oral argument challenging the constitutionality of the Affordable Care Act. Under the 2017 Republican tax law, the monetary penalty for those who do not have health care insurance as mandated under the Affordable Care Act was eliminated. Texas challenged the constitutionality of the health care law, arguing that without this individual mandate penalty, the health care law was no longer constitutional. Two federal courts ruled in favor of Texas. close
