Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards (D) held a briefing on the state’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. He said social distancing measures had helped to slow the spread of the virus as well as decease hospitalizations. “We’re in a better place today…because the people of Louisiana took seriously the stay-at-home order,” he said. In addition, the governor announced the creation of the Resilient Louisiana Commission, a task force charged with providing recommendations to make businesses more resilient. Other officials participating in the briefing were House Minority Whip Steve Scalise (R-LA) and Louisiana Economic Development Secretary Don Pierson. close
