Louisiana Governor John Bel Edwards (D) gave an update on the government’s response to the coronavirus pandemic. At a local hospital in Baton Rouge, the governor announced the latest numbers which included close to 24,000 positive cases in the state and 1,296 deaths. He added that the numbers reflected a slight decrease in hospitalizations and those needing ventilators, saying “We’re in much, much better place today than we thought we were going to be.” close
