Secretary of State Mike Pompeo criticized the regulatory arm of the World Health Organization (WHO), saying the organization “clearly failed during this pandemic” in its handling of the coronavirus outbreak and enforcement of China’s actions. Secretary Pompeo repeated claims that China failed to report important information surrounding the virus in a timely fashion to WHO and that there was no access to samples of the virus or to labs in the country. The secretary also answered several foreign policy questions on providing additional humanitarian aid to several countries in need, Middle East peace policy, tensions with China, and Iran’s nuclear program. close
