House Ways and Means Committee Chair Richard Neal (D-MA) led a conversation on the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic with members of the U.S. Conference of Mayors. They discussed the economic and financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic hon cities and towns across America, from the closing of businesses to the rising unemployment claims. They said greater financial support from the federal government would be needed in order to recover. In relating the experiences of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Mayor Bill Peduto (D) said that without financial help from the government “you are going to see cities in financial disrepair that will not be able to continue the economic transformation that will be necessary.” close
