Governors. Northam and Hutchinson on Coronavirus Pandemic

Governors Ralph Northam (D-VA) and Asa Hutchinson (R-AR) discussed the coronavirus pandemic during a virtual event hosted by the Washington Post. Governor Northam spoke about steps his state had taken to reopen, and improvements to testing capabilities. He also commented on what he called “mixed messages” from the Trump administration about the importance of following Centers for Disease Control guidelines, and the president encouraging protests for reopening Virginia. Governor Hutchinson discussed his decision not to issue a stay-at-home order for Arkansas, saying it was the right choice. He also spoke about the state’s role in the nation’s meat supply chain, saying none of Arkansas' plants had closed due to coronavirus, and he expected the industry to bounce back once the pandemic was over. close
